Abbreviated Nine-Deity Kalachakra Sadhana

Preliminaries

Instantaneously I become a Kalachakra, Cycles of Time, with enlightening body blue in color, one face, two arms, holding diamond-strong scepter and bell, embracing a Vishva-mata, Mother of Diversity, and standing with my right leg outstretched.

Supreme Triumphant Symbolic Round World

Generation

...with their faces bowed down.

From PHREM, then a cleaver, there arises a Vishva-mata, Mother of Diversity, who embraces me from the front – I who have overcome and gained all. Her enlightening body is yellow in color with four faces which, circling round from the front to her right, are yellow, white, blue and red, each with three eyes. She has eight arms, in the right hands of which she holds a cleaver, a hook, a hand-drum replete with its sound, and a garland of counters. In her left ones, she holds a skullcup, a lasso, a hundred-petaled white lotus, and a gem. She has as her crown a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind, is adorned with five kinds of ornamental seals and, in the stance of her left leg outstretched, stands absorbed in a balanced union with me who have overcome and gained all.

On the eight petals, in the east and fire directions, from A and HA, then an incense bowl and a black yaktail fan, there arise a Radiant Black Lady, Krishna-dipta, and a Smokey Lady, Dhuma. Both are black with four faces – black, red, yellow and white – and have eight arms, in the right hands of which (the former) is holding bowls of incense, then of sandalwood with saffron, next of camphor, then of musk, and in the left a bell, a lotus, the flower of a divine-realm tree, and an assorted flower garland. (The latter) is holding eight black yaktail fans.

In the south and truthless directions, from A: and HA:, then a butter-lamp and a red yaktail fan, there arise a Radiant Red Lady, Rakta-dipta, and a Mirage Lady, Marichi. Both are red with four faces – red, yellow, white and blue – and have eight arms, in the right hands of which (the former) is holding a butter-lamp, long necklace, a crown, and a bracelet, and in the left a length of cloth, a belt with a filigree skirt, an earring, and an anklet. (The latter) is holding eight red yaktail fans.

In the north and powerful directions, from AM and HAM, then a delicacy of the divine and a white yaktail fan, there arise a Radiant White Lady, Shveta-dipta, and a Sparks-in-the-Sky Lady, Khadyota. Both are white with four faces – white, black, red and yellow – and have eight arms, in the right hands of which (the former) is holding bowls of milk, of water, of the supreme medicine, and of beer, and in the left, bowls of nectar, of an elixir with a taste that brings actualizations, of ambrosia fruit, and of a cooked delicacy. (The latter) is holding eight white yaktail fans.

In the west and wind directions, from A and HA, then a ceremonial conch and a yellow yaktail fan, there arise a Radiant Yellow Lady, Pita-dipta, and a Butter Lamp Lady, Pratipa. Both are yellow with four faces – yellow, white, blue and red – and have eight arms, in the right hands of which (the former) is holding a conch, a reed pipe, a gem, and a hand-drum, and in the left a lute, a drum, a revererating gong, and a long brass horn. (The latter) is holding eight yellow yaktail fana.

All of them have three eyes on each face, are adorned with five kinds of ornamental seals, have as their crowns a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind, and stand in the posture of legs together.

Seeing with foresight that the vessel to whom is to be shown the Clear Evolved from First of All is the perishable world of limited beings who can be tamed through their great desire, we as father and mother absorb ourselves in a balanced union. By the sounds of our consummate joy, the triumphant ones and their spiritual offspring are invited here. They infuse my body, then from my body are emanated back out and settle, just as they were in me, inside the body of the Mother of Diversity. From her, as well, they are likewise emanated and once again, in the aspect of the circle of those in this symbolic world, they enter me through the crown of my head. As my expanding heart that has melted from the fires of my great desire, they cascade through the pathway of my diamond-strong scepter into the lotus of the mother as drops. From these, in sequential order, come the seed-syllables of the individual deities, their hand-insignia and then, transformed into their bodies, they are emanated from the mother's lotus and settle on their individual seats.

From A and A, then diamond-strong scepters, come an Imperturbable Akshobhya and a Vajradhatu Ishvari, a Lady with a Wealth and Control over the Diamond-Strong Sphere, both green with three faces, green, red and white, and six arms, holding in the right three hands a diamond-strong scepter, a cleaver and axe, and in the left three ones a diamond-strong bell, a skullcup and a head of a Fastidious First. Embraced in turn by a (blue, six-armed) Prajna-paramita, a Lady with Far-Reaching Discriminating Awareness, and a (blue, six-armed) Vajrasattva, a Spiritual Hero with a Diamond-Strong Mind, they are emanated forth. The father and mother Imperturbable One dissolve into me, while the father and mother Lady with a Wealth and Control over the Diamond-Strong Sphere dissolve into the Mother of Diversity.

Then once again a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind, embraced by a Lady with a Wealth and Control over the Diamond-Strong Sphere, are emanated forth and enter into me, while a Lady with Far-Reaching Discriminating Awareness, embraced by an Imperturbable One, are emanated forth and enter to become inseparable from the Mother of Diversity.

Conferring in this Symbolic World the Empowerment of Compassion to Limited Beings

With myself clear as Cycles of Time, with an identity nature of the five deep awarenesses, one who has overcome and gained all, now with light rays emanated from my heart, I hook back in all limited beings so that they may enter inside my symbolic round world. With myself, father and mother, absorbed in a balanced union, then with my expanding heart, melted from the fires of my great desire, as father and mother authentically transformed ones, I confer empowerment so that these limited beings transform into the circle of my symbolic round world, assuming aspects with thirty-two signs, and depart to their own pure land fields of the clear and evolved.

Supreme Triumphant Actions

Melting, Being Roused by Songs, and Arising

At my forehead is an OM as diamond-strong enlightening body, at my throat an A: as diamond-strong enlightening speech, at my heart a HUM as diamond-strong enlightening mind, and inside my avadhuti, my central "shaken-off" channel, at both my crown protrusion and navel are HO:'s.

By the light rays of the deep awareness of my great desire that blaze supremely from the fire oftummo, my "inner fiery lass," of the syllable HO at my navel, I, the Possessor of Everything Diamond-Strong, one who has overcome and gained all, simultaneously with my ladies of discriminating awareness who have been standing on the corolla and the petals of the lotus, melt into expanding hearts, like what possesses a rabbit, and now in the form of drops remain here in the nature of great blissful awareness.

Then four divine maidens, come in the nature of the four immeasurable feelings, rouse us with the tunes of melodious songs to do what is of meaningful benefit for those who wander: "Please safeguard us and do as we wish, by taking keen interest in those with desire for someone possessing the diamond-strong as a sublime teacher for humans and the divine."

Fully awakened by the tune of these songs, I, who have overcome and gained all, one who possesses the diamond-strong, seeing everything from the three dimensions of beings to be like a visual apparition, arise from this melted moon of a drop as a syllable HUM, blue and beaming with rays of stainless light. This transforms then into a diamond-strong scepter, from which I arise as an all-around perfect Cycles of Time, beaming with the five types of rays of stainless light.

My enlightening body is...

[repeat as before, but omitting for the principal figure "I have a (blue) Vajrasattva, a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind, adorning my head," for the Mother of Diversity "has as her crown a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind" and for the entourage figures "have as their crowns a Spiritual Hero with Diamond-Strong Mind"]

…. stand in the posture of legs together.

Emanation of the Symbolic Round World from the Lotus

By the sound of joy of us father and mother principal couple being absorbed in a balanced union, all triumphant ones with their spiritual offspring, such as the previously emanated father and mother authentically transformed ones, are invited here. These figure, hovering in the space above me, now enter me through the crown of my head for the sake of becoming the symbolic round world to bond me close. As my expanding heart that has melted from the fires of my great desire, they pass through the inside of my "shaken-off" channel and cascade through the pathway of my diamond-strong scepter into the lotus of the mother as drops, each individual portion of which transforms into the seed syllables of each of these deities, now taking as their ruler an Imperturbable One. From these, come the hand-insignia of each of the deities, and from these the enlightening bodies of each of these deities. In sequential order, they are emanated forth from the mother's lotus and settle on their individual seats.

From A and A, then... [as above…] to become inseparable from the Mother of Diversity.

Joining the Beings for Deep Awareness

From a HUM...

...the navel of the principal figure of those for deep awareness who are similar to these I have been building up...

The deep awareness ones become of equal taste to these who are here to bond me close.

Receiving Empowerment and Seals

...shriye hum."

As the main figure, I become sealed with an Imperturbable One, the mother with a Spiritual Hero with a Diamond-Strong Mind, and so on, each with the ruling figure of their families in the aspect of a corpus of supreme emanations.

Being Mindful of the Purifications

…there is the Demonic One.

Through that of the factors of reality there are my weapons as the principal one; and through that of the sources in terms of the natural qualities, there are my external seals. Through that of what is diamond-strong there are my internal seals, abiding perfectly on top of the moon at my heart as a holder of everything diamond-strong.

The Integrating Practice of the Drop

At the top of my own and my lady of discriminating awareness's head comes an OM, at our throats an A:, at our hearts a HUM, at our navels a HO:, at our pubic regions a HAM and at the crown of our heads a HA. At my own private place, within a non-objectifying state, from a HUM comes a diamond-strong scepter, blue with five spokes, the hole of which is stopped with a syllable PHAT. At my discriminating lady's private place, within a non-objectifying state, from an A: comes a lotus, red with eight petals, the hole of which is stopped with a PHAT.

At the hearts of all the deities, from their own seed-syllables encircled by their mind-protecting syllables to be repeated, are emanated ...
